It’s an exciting day here at Compuco towers and we’re extremely proud to be officially launching our new CiviCRM platform-as-a-service “CiviPlus” today 🚀

It’s the culmination of thousands of hours of work from the Compuco team, bringing together the knowledge and experience of working with CiviCRM for over 10 years with the goal of making it available to as many people as possible.

To celebrate the official public launch of CiviPlus I’d like to take you through its story today. How it came to be, what it is now, and what you can expect from us in the future. It’s been quite the journey!

Why did we create CiviPlus?

CiviPlus is the result of many years of experience helping to deliver the tools nonprofits need to change the world for the better. One of the platforms we’ve worked most with over the years is CiviCRM. It’s an amazing open source CRM used by over 11,000 organisations all around the world. It’s built by nonprofit organisations, for nonprofit organisations, specifically focused on addressing their needs and empowering them to succeed. It’s a platform the team and I are extremely proud to work with.

CiviCRM can do a huge amount. It’s not only an address book of all of your contacts, whether those be supporters, donors, members or other stakeholders, but also incorporates functionality to take payments online, manage memberships, run events, send email campaigns, manage grant processes and so much more.   

Despite this and its incredible flexibility, it does have some drawbacks. Primarily that, as an “open source” platform, in order to use CiviCRM, you have to have the technical skills to download, install, host the system and perform the ongoing maintenance needed to keep it secure. While the software may be free in terms of licence costs, this is no small technical challenge and many nonprofits, especially those at an earlier stage in their growth, simply cannot do that alone.

We believe that every nonprofit, regardless of size, should have access to this top tier comprehensive solution so that they are well equipped to fight for their causes. That's why CiviPlus was born. 

We took all the very best features from CiviCRM and combined them with our Compuco know-how to deliver one amazing platform perfectly suited to growing organisations.

What makes CiviPlus so special?

Having looked at the history of CiviPlus, you can see that it is built on strong foundations. The platform is based on three core principles which to this day guide what makes CiviPlus so unique:

1. Simplicity

A platform that is complicated to set up and use poses a barrier, especially for smaller nonprofits. It should take minutes to get started with your new platform, not weeks.

Making CRM easy to access has always been at the core of CiviPlus’s mission. This has meant our hard working product team have put considerable work into behind the scenes functionality such as new deploying new sites with the best possible configurations so you can get started right away.

The CiviPlus experience is designed to be seamless, allowing charities and other organisations to spend zero time on platform management and all your time on delivering for your cause.

2. Comprehensiveness

CiviPlus is one of the most feature rich nonprofit CRMs on the market. Just because we’ve focused on simplicity of access, doesn’t mean we’ve stripped away any of that flexibility. In fact, we’ve added even more than ever.

Our self-service portal, for instance, is a fantastic feature we’ve developed over the years and it now functions as a gateway for members or applicants. They can check invoices, review events, handle applications for grants, and more!

Whatever your needs, be they for fundraising, membership, or grant management, we have you covered. CiviPlus is truly an all-in-one platform that can power your organisation’s success.

3. Affordability

It goes without saying that non profits often have limited resources which they need to invest wisely to maximise their impact on the world. This is always something we’ve been distinctly conscious about and our pricing reflects this fact.

Due to the vital work they do to support society, nonprofits should not be priced out of the market for high quality, high functioning products. This is something that is especially important for growing nonprofits. Whilst some pricing models may start off affordable or even free, they can suddenly reach a steep cliff once you grow past a fledgling size. Your affordable integral platform can suddenly become exponentially costly.

CiviPlus scales its costs to your needs, with a pricing structure that remains consistent and rewards you for growth, instead of punishing you. You can select between paying based on the number of contacts in your database or by your user numbers (and easily move between the two), whichever is most cost effective. Our mission is to see you succeed, and that means costs that remain predictable, flexible to your needs, and fair.

What’s still to come?

Now that CiviPlus has launched the sky is the limit for its potential. We’ve got a huge roadmap of features we’ll be looking to bring to the platform over the next year. This includes a lot of work further expanding the fundraising aspects of the platform. All of this will be available to our users at no additional cost as part of the core offering.

You’ll also be seeing more tips and insights coming out from us. Whether it be helpful information about how CiviPlus works or just general content about running your nonprofit, we’ll be looking to better support your journey to enacting social good. You’ll be able to find that here on our site and across our social media platforms.

We’ve got big plans for where CiviPlus is headed. And in collaboration with our clients, we’re looking forward to building the definitive platform for growing nonprofits’ digital needs.

I want to offer my biggest thanks again to all the people who have helped us get this far over the years. This has included all the clients who have been a part of our journey, but also the countless hours that those in the Compuco team and CiviCRM community have contributed to this fantastic product. We’re extremely excited to be starting this journey with CiviPlus. and are looking forward to the many amazing things the people we work with will achieve.

We are delighted to announce a new integration of CiviCRM with Open Social, a community engagement platform.

CiviCRM is the number one open source CRM for not-for profits, used by more than 11,000 organisations worldwide, and Open Social is a leading community engagement platform, used by over 1000 organisations in a range of different industries from Charities to member organisations and companies also.

It’s exciting news for organisations using CiviCRM, who will now be able to combine the power of CiviCRM with the collaboration and community building that the Open Social platform provides.
If you’ve not heard of community platforms before, a community platform is a tool that allows your organisation to create your own branded and tailored social network. Users of the platform (normally your members or supporters) can interact, join groups to share knowledge and exchange ideas, publish and promote events and collaborate within a safe online curated space. With a community platform you can expand your digital offer and strengthen your relationship with your supporters.

Open Social is open source (much like CiviCRM) and as such has no user licences fees. This means it can be deployed affordably to scale to even the largest of communities. It’s also flexible with a huge range of different add-on modules that can be integrated to enhance the platform.

Our new two-way integration between Open Social and CiviCRM syncs data between the two platforms allowing information about the groups and committees that members have joined to be seamlessly synced to CiviCRM. You can even create Open Social groups and manage their membership directly from within CiviCRM, which would be useful for managing private groups in the case of committees or working groups.

By combining the data of a community platform with that in your CiviCRM your organisation can obtain deep insights into your members' interests and behaviours. You can see which groups are popular and engage with your members on topical issues, automating communications and tailoring their experience.

A great example is a recent implementation for the UN’s PRI (Principles of Responsible Investment). Their user community includes over 2,900 organisations with over 40,000 individuals spread across 6 continents. Their Community Platform now supports discussions between 24,000 users with over 750 online collaboration spaces. The data is seamlessly synced to their CRM allowing for deep insight guiding their policy engagements.
